We’re big fans of humanist ceremonies here at J&L HQ, so we were very excited when Lindsay and Sam got in touch with us to ask us to shoot their humanist ceremony at the Priests House near Bolton Abbey. It’s a great bit of Yorkshire to get married in too, surrounded by fields of spring lambs, woodland and stunning hills. Whilst Sam and the boys readied the venue, Lindsay and the girls got ready just a stone’s throw away. The ceremony was punctuated with fantastic readings including the ever-popular Lovely Love Story by Edward Monkton and followed by riotous applause for Lindsay and Sam as they came back down the aisle. With hints of Easter (with a mini egg table favours), the ceremony room was transformed into a magnificent setting for the wedding breakfast whilst we stole away for a few minutes for some portraits around the adjoining Barden Tower. Our couple returned to a snow storm of confetti before heading in for the speeches.
We made the most of the window between the end of the meal and the first dance just to walk out into the fields and enjoy the mild spring air. Lindsay brought her powder blue leather jacket just to be sure though! It’s always nice to make time for just the two of you and this is a perfect time to do it. All the formalities are over with and it’s just a great time to breathe in that newly-weddedness! The night was rounded out by dancing and cake – what a perfect day!
