The footage was captured at the wedding of Josh and Lorna Gannt in Kentucky in the United States last month.
It clearly shows bride’s stepmother repeatedly blocking the view of the couple’s first kiss, which professional photographer Ashley Easterling was trying to photograph.
But refusing to be beaten, Ms Easterling took matters into her own hands, physically shoving the woman out of the way so she could capture the moment.
The video was taken by guest Trenton Ray Hensley, who shared it with the 24-year-old bride.
Ms Gannt then posted it on her own Facebook page, where it quickly went viral.
But instead of being offended on her stepmother’s behalf, Ms Gannt saw the humorous side.
“Watch my photographer push my step mum out of the way to try to capture our moment,” Ms Gannt posted.
“She doesn’t find it very funny. But I do. Lmao Ashley is a savage.”
The video has since been viewed millions of times and has been flooded with comments praising the photographer’s actions.
Ms Easterling told the Daily Mail the incident was one of countless examples of wedding guests making it difficult for professional snappers to do their jobs.
“I politely asked several times for (the stepmother) to move,” she told the publication.
“She popped off something smart … I told her I was the paid photographer, then she told me I wasn’t doing my job and walked right in front of me. Nope.
“I’m paid to do a job, and dang — this girl is doing her job one way or the other.”
However, Ms Gannt has since taken to Facebook to explain the publicity had caused friction between herself and her unnamed stepmother.
“The viral video that was posted has caused a little bit of conflict between mine and my stepmother’s relationship, this is nothing new,” she wrote.
“We have always had a very rocky relationship and bumped heads a lot. She is terribly upset with the feedback of this video which is completely understandable.
“When the video first went viral my father, stepmother and myself laughed hysterically about the whole thing — now, it’s a big ordeal to where I have received threats because of it.”
But Mr Hensley, who filmed the interaction, told the Daily Mail the incident was an important etiquette reminder for wedding guests.
“I was shocked, but also proud of the photographer as she was paid good money to get those shots — not the stepmother,” he said.
”No one else blocked her shots for the rest of the evening — they all just rallied around the photographer in fascination that she handled the situation so well to do her job.”
